Digital X-Rays in Virginia Beach
Today’s x-ray systems provide clearer images, faster results, and reduced radiation exposure compared to traditional x-rays. Instead of photographic x-ray film, digital methods work by using an advanced sensor to capture detailed images of your teeth, gums, and other oral structures.
This advanced technology is essential for planning the solutions that address your particular dental issues. Digital x-ray systems produce precise images that can be quickly manipulated to show every detail of your oral structure.
Why Digital X-Rays Matter
Keeping your oral health on track starts below the surface. Digital X-Rays reveal hidden issues like early cavities, root infections, or wisdom tooth positioning before they become painful or costly. By allowing our Virginia Beach dentists to catch problems in their earliest stages, we can work to prevent the progression of complications such as bone loss and infections. Dental Implants in Virginia Beach and other types of dental work require X-ray images in order to provide the best possible care. Safe for all ages, digital x-rays are recommended for new patients so that we may establish a complete record of oral health.
What Digital X-Rays Can Detect
Digital Dental X-rays are used to detect a variety of oral health concerns, including:
✔️ Cavities
✔️ Impacted Teeth
✔️ Decay Under Existing Fillings
✔️ Tumors and Cysts
✔️ Bone Loss in the Jaw
✔️ Abscesses
X-rays are also used to plan treatments such as braces and dental implants, as well as to monitor healing after a procedure. Advanced digital imaging makes fast and accurate results possible.
The Digital X-Rays Process
Digital dental x-rays are quick and easy. You will sit or stand in front of the machine as the sensor is positioned and the image is taken. Your images will appear immediately on our computer screens, allowing us to review them right away. Staying still for a few seconds helps ensure a clear image. Routine digital x-rays are typically taken once a year or as recommended based on your oral health, and panoramic x-rays are usually taken every two to five years as part of your comprehensive exam.

FAQs – Digital X-Rays
Choosing any treatment is a meaningful decision,. It’s normal to want thorough information beforehand, so you can move forward with confidence.
Are digital X-Rays safe?
Yes. The Retreat is an active adult community designed specifically for those 55 and better. That means you’ll live among like-minded neighbors who share similar interests and lifestyles. The community design, amenities, and services are tailored to make life easier, more social, and more enjoyable for residents in this stage of life.
Do digital X-Rays hurt?
Not at all. Digital X-rays are quick, painless, and non-invasive. A small, thin sensor is gently placed inside your mouth to capture images in seconds. There’s no discomfort beyond briefly holding the sensor in place, and no invasive procedures are involved.
How often do I need dental X-Rays?
One of the biggest perks of The Retreat is its low-maintenance lifestyle. The HOA covers exterior upkeep, lawn care, landscaping, and the maintenance of common areas. This means you can spend less time worrying about chores and more time enjoying life, traveling, entertaining family, or simply relaxing in your new home.
Can digital X-Rays detect cavities early?
All remaining homes must be sold by October 1st. After this date, the community will be completely sold out. This is your final opportunity to own a home at The Retreat at Western Branch. Once the inventory is gone, no new homes will be available here.
Will I see the X-Ray results during my visit?
The Retreat at Western Branch is located in the heart of Chesapeake, Virginia, offering both convenience and peace of mind. You’ll be minutes from shopping centers, restaurants, medical facilities, and major highways — while still enjoying a quiet, private neighborhood setting. Residents love the balance of being close to city conveniences without sacrificing comfort or community charm.
Are digital X-Rays covered by insurance?
The Retreat isn’t just about the homes — it’s about the lifestyle. Scenic walking paths, a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere, and a community designed for connection set it apart. Every home was built with active adults in mind, offering open layouts, modern finishes, and spaces that feel both stylish and functional. Combined with low-maintenance living and a strong sense of belonging, The Retreat delivers a lifestyle you won’t find anywhere else.
